Studies have Shown that Ingestion of Whey Protein before Meals can help Diabetics Control Blood Suga
European Association for the Study of Diabetes published a new report showing that intaking whey protein before breakfast can reduce the magnitude of rise in blood sugar after a meal, at the same time can improve the efficiency of the body's response to insulin. Therefore, whey protein can be used as a way to help people with diabetes to control blood sugar aids. The study was finished by several university professors of Israel and Sweden.
The results showed that: "Overall, the intake of whey protein before eating high glycemic index breakfast can increase the level of insulin secretion after a meal, it can also optimize the level of GLP-1 reaction, lowering type Ⅱ diabetes ’ blood sugar levels after a meal. Therefore, whey protein can be used as a way to help patients with type Ⅱ diabetes reduce blood sugar levels.The authors also noted that this is a simple and low-cost method of treatment, any brand of pure whey protein concentrates (without the addition of sugar and other nutrients), is able to play the same effect.
Based on this research, experts still consider a long-term clinical trials aimed to explore whether the effect of whey protein for glucose, insulin, GLP-1 is long.
